The Contribution Of Women Stone Breakers In Meeting Household Living Needs In Parida Village, Lasalepa District, Muna Regency

Abstract

This study aims to determine the contribution of women as stone breakers in meeting household needs and the obstacles faced by women stone breakers in meeting household needs in Parida Village, Lasalepa District, Muna Regency. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with a total of twelve informants, consisting of eleven women stone breakers and one village official. Data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using qualitative data analysis techniques that include data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that the Contribution of Women Stone Breakers in Meeting Household Needs is the involvement of women in stone breaking work based on household economic limitations, low levels of education, and limited alternative employment opportunities. Then, women stone breakers in meeting their household needs do not only rely on their own income, but also collaborate with various other parties. Furthermore, the obstacles faced by women stone breakers in meeting household needs, namely work as stone breakers relies heavily on physical strength and is carried out for quite long hours every day, the Village government added that the minimal division of roles in the household and limited economic and social support.
