Optimization Of Posyandu Services For The Elderly Based On Health Education (Study in Kasupute Village, Wawotobi District, Konawe Regency)

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the optimization of Elderly Integrated Health Post (Posyandu Lansia) services based on health education and to identify the factors influencing their optimization at Posyandu Tusawuta, Kasupute Village, Wawotobi District, Konawe Regency. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. The research involved 12 informants, with 10 selected using purposive sampling based on criteria relevant to the research objectives. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct and participatory observation, and documentation, including activity reports, archives, and photographs. The collected data were analyzed qualitatively using an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing/verification. The findings indicate that Posyandu Tusawuta has significant potential to function not only as a provider of basic health services but also as a center for health education and social activities for older adults. Health services include routine blood pressure, weight, and blood glucose examinations when available, health consultations, and education on healthy lifestyles, medication adherence, physical activity, stress management, and healthy eating. However, the optimization of these services remains constrained by low health literacy and participation among some older adults, limited health personnel and cadres, restricted time for intensive education, inadequate educational media, insufficient medical equipment, and limited family support. The study identifies elderly participation, family support, and the availability of adequate facilities and infrastructure as key factors influencing service optimization. Therefore, improving the quality of health education through more structured, participatory, and elderly-oriented methods, strengthening family and community support, and improving facilities and infrastructure are essential to enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of Posyandu Lansia services.
